History of Para Cycling Federation of Singapore (PCFS)
The Para Cycling Federation of Singapore (PCFS) was formerly known as the Handcycling Association of Singapore (HAS). The organisation was formed in early 2007, by members of the Spinal Cord Injury Support Group Singapore, comprising of survivors of spinal cord injury, and the rehab professionals at Tan Tock Seng Hospital Rehabilitation Centre. Then, it was just an informal gathering to handcycle at Yio Chu Kang Stadium on Saturday mornings. Its mission was to get more disabled persons into sports as a meaningful and beneficial activity for overall health and well-being.
With the inclusion of other categories of para cyclists, we were subsequently renamed the Para Cycling Federation of Singapore (PCFS) in July 2017 to reflect the diversity of cycling options available.
Handcyclists from the junior team participated in Run for Inclusion organised by Runninghour at Bishan Park on 26 August 2018. This is an annual event that promotes inclusiveness in sports.
Participated in the international UCI C1 competition in Sweden for the first time.
Our cyclists attended a training camp held in the Velodrom Nasional in Nilai on 14-15 September 2018. This training camp was an important part of their preparation for the Asian Para Games.
Remy Choo took over the role as President in late 2018.
“My belief and focus was to make PCFS not just a club to train athletes to win medals, but also to be accessible and supportive towards Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and disadvantaged groups. We wanted to open it and make it a really inclusive and community based rehab, social and sports activity.
During my time as President, we had to keep PCFS going despite difficulties during the Covid years. We tried to grow our membership, renew our purpose, and make PCFS more sustainable financially and membership-wise. We also worked on identifying and grooming a new core management team.”

PCFS athletes represented Singapore at the 2018 Asian Para Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Congratulations to our tandem athletes Emily Lee and her pilot Sarah Tan for securing a bronze medal.
Our tandem athletes Steve Tee and Ang Kee Meng (pilot) clinched a bronze medal in the Men’s 4000m Individual Pursuit at the 8th Para Asian Track Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia.
12 handcyclists from the Junior and Development teams participated at Car-Free Sunday organised by the Urban Redevelopment Authority.
11 athletes from the Development Team pedalled the 24km route. The group consists of five handcyclists, two tandem teams, a bicyclist, and making his debut, an athlete on a trike.
Tandem athletes Steve Tee and Ang Kee Meng (pilot) won the bronze medal in the Individual Pursuit.
Four handcyclists from the Development team joined forces with friends and volunteers to compete in the City60 Bike-Run Challenge on 27 October 2019. They participated in the City30 Mixed Relay, which started with a 3.5km run, followed by a 23km bike ride, and ended with a 3.5km run.
