History of Para Cycling Federation of Singapore (PCFS)
The Para Cycling Federation of Singapore (PCFS) was formerly known as the Handcycling Association of Singapore (HAS). The organisation was formed in early 2007, by members of the Spinal Cord Injury Support Group Singapore, comprising of survivors of spinal cord injury, and the rehab professionals at Tan Tock Seng Hospital Rehabilitation Centre. Then, it was just an informal gathering to handcycle at Yio Chu Kang Stadium on Saturday mornings. Its mission was to get more disabled persons into sports as a meaningful and beneficial activity for overall health and well-being.
With the inclusion of other categories of para cyclists, we were subsequently renamed the Para Cycling Federation of Singapore (PCFS) in July 2017 to reflect the diversity of cycling options available.
Handcycling Association of Singapore (HAS) Junior and Development teams participated in the first Singapore National Para Games on 6 August 2016 at the Singapore Sports School.
Proudly represented by Zi Xuan, Owen Lee, Zi Yong and Ryan Choo, the junior team from the Handcycling Association of Singapore (HAS) demonstrated their hand cycling skills before their schoolmates and guests gave the sport a try.
Jointly organised with Cycosports, and in partnership with the Singapore Disability Sports Council as well as the Singapore Cycling Federation, the Championship and Invitationals was held within the URA-CFS Share the Road Criterium on 26 March 2017. We had the pleasure to host Team Malaysia who showed strong capabilities it all disciplines.
HAS was renamed Para Cycling Federation of Singapore (PCFS) in July 2017 as the organisation expanded to encompass all forms of para cycling.
