History of Para Cycling Federation of Singapore (PCFS)
The Para Cycling Federation of Singapore (PCFS) was formerly known as the Handcycling Association of Singapore (HAS). The organisation was formed in early 2007, by members of the Spinal Cord Injury Support Group Singapore, comprising of survivors of spinal cord injury, and the rehab professionals at Tan Tock Seng Hospital Rehabilitation Centre. Then, it was just an informal gathering to handcycle at Yio Chu Kang Stadium on Saturday mornings. Its mission was to get more disabled persons into sports as a meaningful and beneficial activity for overall health and well-being.
With the inclusion of other categories of para cyclists, we were subsequently renamed the Para Cycling Federation of Singapore (PCFS) in July 2017 to reflect the diversity of cycling options available.
2010:Â Handcycle was first introduced as a para sport event in the 2010 Asian Para Games hosted in Incheon Team PCFS participated in the games under its previous name Handcycling Association of Singapore (HAS) sending 2 handcyclist together with Ezzy Wang and Foo Fung Liang.
In this event, charity riders traced the roots of Mr Tan Tock Seng through a 350km ride from Malacca to Singapore. Handcycling Association of Singapore (HAS) was proud to participate in the Singapore segment!
