Getting to Know Mr. Ayub

What inspired you to volunteer your time and skills to maintain the bikes for the Para Cycling Federation of Singapore?
With my background as a special equipment technician, I saw an opportunity to contribute my expertise in a meaningful way. Ensuring that the equipment used by the Para Cycling Federation of Singapore meets the highest safety and serviceability standards is both a responsibility and a privilege for me.

What are some unique challenges you face when maintaining bikes for para-athletes, and how do you overcome them?
Maintaining bikes for para-athletes involves unique challenges, such as troubleshooting and repairing highly specialized bicycles using basic tools. Since these bikes are customized to meet the needs of individual athletes, I have to listen carefully and understand each athlete’s specific bike fitting and requirements. Through attention to detail and adaptability, I ensure the bikes are safe and optimized for performance.

Can you share a memorable experience or moment from your time working with the team that reinforces why you continue to support this cause?
One memorable experience was preparing the bikes for a charity ride organized by Deutsche Bank. Despite the time constraints, I ensured the bikes were safe and fully serviceable. The event went smoothly, and seeing everything come together was incredibly rewarding. That achievement gave me the motivation and confidence to continue supporting the Para Cycling Federation of Singapore.
