PCFS Training Camp in Desaru

PCFS athletes from the pre-development and development teams attended a training camp in Desaru from 19 to 22 September 2025. With three consecutive days of training, this training camp is crucial to help the athletes build fitness and prepare for their races at the upcoming ASEAN Para Games (APG) happening in Thailand in January 2026.

Desaru proved to be an ideal location for the camp with its with long hilly stretches of roads that helped many athletes achieved new milestones such as the longest ride and the most intervals. Training sessions during the camp focused on climb training where athletes cycled hill intervals that covered more than 20km, as well as aerobic training that involved long rides of up to 100km. On top of that, there were also gym workouts incorporated in the training schedule.

As part of the camp, sharing sessions were held in the evenings after dinner. Coaches educated the athletes on sport science, which includes topics about nutrition, adaptation, recovery and training expectations. They also talked about challenges and how to overcome them.

The team bonded really well during the camp. We’re thankful for the volunteers and support crew who were super supportive and helpful. The hotel was also very accommodating. We enjoyed lots of good food and laughter too.
